Tres Aguas began after I saw my first alpacas at the AOBA conference in Denver and has intentionally grown slowly to about 20 huacayas in gray, black, pinto, white, and several shades of fawn/red/brown. I also have a few pinto suris.
Tres Aguas offers breeding stock, companions, and fiber producers. Most of my older huacaya males have been gelded, as the logical step after deciding they would not be used at stud. All my alpacas are ARI registered and come with health and reproductive soundness guarantees, as appropriate. Multiple purchases are discounted and terms are always available. Transportation and boarding can be arranged as needed until you are ready for your new alpacas.
Tres Aguas believes you can never have too much information about alpacas in general, a specific animal in particular, or about husbandry, facilities, or veterinary care. We enjoy answering your questions, always noting what our opinion or experience is, versus that of others and what's known from the literature, if anything. As a long-time veterinary pathologist, I know there are lots of shades of gray, and not too many black & white areas, especially where living creatures are involved.
Tres Aguas Alpacas has been raising alpacas in the mid-Columbia region of Washington state since 1996. I started with two black huacaya pets--a yearling female and her gelding half-brother. After shearing, when they went from "fluffy" to nearly 2-dimensional and all that fiber was piled on my porch, I decided perhaps one could "do" something useful with it....
The first cria born on the farm was a silver gray male "Sage" with awesome fine dense fiber. His dam's next cria was an equally nice silver female "Indium" and I was hooked. Fast forward a bit to "Venus", the spitting image of her sire Sage as a cria. May, 2006, Venus had a silver female cria, and she repeated that feat in 2007.
